How to enhance the corrosion resistance in the production of stainless steel shot

  The manufacturing and use of stainless steel for Hongxin steel shot need a certain degree of process, which may include cutting, bending, welding or grinding, and the corrosion resistance of stainless steel shot will be affected. The steel is subject to very strong heat treatment. Through the filler metal with higher CR and Mo content than base metal, the corrosion risk associated with the weld itself can be reduced. Due to insufficient combination, the risk of crevice corrosion must be dealt with. Corrosion occurs at a temperature 20-25 degrees lower than the critical pitting temperature. In order to solve this problem, the stainless steel shot with more corrosion resistance may be selected.

  When the steel is heated to a temperature between 500 and 850 degrees, it can be dealt with by selecting low-carbon steel or titanium stabilized steel. The blue hot coloring sometimes forms on the surface of stainless steel shot, which is caused by the warm oxidation of steel surface, mainly composed of thick oxides of chromium and iron. If not treated, the significant loss of corrosion resistance of these layers is either completely prevented or should be removed later in order to solve this problem. The blue discoloration is then removed by pickling.

  The removal of heat coloring and de coating increases the risk of stress corrosion cracking. Due to the risk of heat coloring, in addition to producing rough and uneven surfaces, on the surface of stainless steel shot, the cracks of heat coloring have serious loss of corrosion resistance. The simple way to solve the problem is acid washing.

  The center of stainless steel shot is also less resistant to corrosion than the surface, which inevitably affects the manufacturing of stainless steel shot. When the steel solidifies, it occurs from the outside to the inside, pushing insoluble impurities to the center of slab for brush coating, sandblasting and grinding, which will affect the surface roughness of stainless steel, thus affecting the corrosion resistance of steel. The corrosion resistance decreases with the increase of the surface roughness The surface shows worse performance than normal smoothness in corrosion test.
